![]() For me it was all rock most of the time, with occasional listens to the soul station and of course the weekly catch-up of Casey's American Top 40 on a third station. It says right on the cover that these are 22 of 1982's Best Hits. I'm guessing the majority of these songs were Top 40 hits though I wasn't listening to that radio format any longer by 1982. single edits vs album versions, etc).T he Hit List is a great compilation to listen to. I'm looking for any info I can find about why these alternate tracks were used on the remastered CD, and if they're "proper" alternate versions or not (eg. they seem to be much lower in the mix, and in some places, removed completely!Īnyway, I was hoping there are some Chilliwack fans on the forum that could shed some light on these variations. The additional 14 seconds on the RM version seems to be mostly a longer intro, although I noticed some definite tinkering with the background vocals on this one. The main difference seems to be a longer introduction, with extra repetition of the "Gone gone gone, she's been gone so long" vocal part, but there may very well be other minor additions as well. My Girl (Gone, Gone, Gone) (GH = 3:56, RM = 4:15)Īnother one with a fairly significant time difference, the RM version is 19 seconds longer. There are several extra bars of the main guitar riff during the intro, and while the GH version has a fade-out ending, the RM version continues on without a fade and then ends cold. Quite a noticable difference on this one, the RM version is 21 seconds longer. Not a huge change, but the extra 7 seconds on the RM version seems to be due to a longer fade-out. the difference seems to be that it merely fades out earlier, but there could be other minor edits during the song that I didn't notice. I intended to just sell my old copy, because if there's one thing I can't stand, it's owning 2 copies of the same album (just one of my personal quirks).Īnyway, upon listening to the remastered CD, I discovered that the first 5 songs are presented in noticeably different versions than on the old CD (I'll call the old one "GH" and the remastered one "RM").įor some reason, the version from RM is 16 seconds shorter. Some time later, I came across a remastered CD of the same collection, from Solid Gold, which contained a couple music videos as a bonus. Many years ago I picked up a copy of Chilliwack's Greatest Hits CD on the Solid Gold/CBS Records label. ![]()
